Very strong wind gusts and dry soil is leading to areas of blowing dust across the area. This is causing visibility to be reduced to one mile or less in localized area. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing visibility. Slow down and leave plenty of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. As winds slowly decrease late this afternoon into the evening, blowing dust should diminish.

CELINA - Governor's Cup Regatta organizers have unveiled plan B - a nine-hour music festival - for the regatta that was canceled a few weeks ago due to low water levels in Grand Lake.
"We just want to try to keep interest and attention on the race itself," regatta spokesman Allen Baskett said this morning, pointing out all funds from the event will help finance next year's hydroplane races. [More]
CELINA - An estimated $119,000 erosion-control project will get underway soon along Beaver Creek, thanks to funding from Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
In a lawsuit settled a year ago, ODNR agreed to pay its share of future maintenance along the creek, following a 27-year exemption. ODNR governs the 13,500-acre Grand Lake, which flows across the spillway into Beaver Creek. [More]

ROCKFORD - Village council on Tuesday unanimously passed the final resolution to get a five-year, 2-mill renewal levy for the fire department on the November election ballot.
For the fourth consecutive year, dog license and kennel registration fees will remain the same.
Mercer County Commissioners on Tuesday opted to keep the fees unchanged in 2013. The last time they were raised was 2009. Residents will pay $13 for a dog license and $65 for kennel registration.
VAN WERT - A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in a home invasion, stabbing and kidnapping in March in Van Wert County.
