Norman Menker
Norman U. Menker, 82, St. Marys, died at 5:20 a.m. Sept. 26, 2012, at Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices, St. Marys.
He was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Dayton, to Alvin and Anna Heitbrink Menker. On July 2, 1955, he married Rosemary T. Albers, who died Nov. 24, 2011.
Surviving are three sons, Rob (Jane) Menker, St. Marys, John Menker, St. Marys, and Andrew (Amy) Menker, St. Marys; five daughters, Terri (Dale) Whetstone, St. Marys, Chris Freewalt, St. Marys, Kathy (Tom) Bruggeman, St. Marys, Mindy (Dave) Wilkinson, Westerville, and Trisha (Shawn) Gibson, Columbus; two sisters, Alfrieda Backs, St. Marys, and Marilyn (Don) Schmitmeyer, Minster; two brothers, LaVern Menker, St. Marys, and Eugene (Nan) Menker, Allen, Texas; 23 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Also deceased is a sister, Virginia Schneider.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Beatrice Foods Co., New Bremen, where he was a truck driver. He also worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Weston Paper Mill, both of St. Marys.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, K of C Council #1592, VFW Post #9289, American Legion Post #323, and Eagles Lodge Aerie #767, all of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte celebrant. Burial with military rites will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Memorials may be given to "Friends of Holy Rosary."
