Twenty employees with the natural gas supplier used company equipment to move trees and rocks and put down 200 tons of sand to enlarge the Grand Lake beach by 70 feet. State park officials also helped cut down trees at the site. Company spokeswoman Peggy Ehora said Dominion undertakes an environmental project every three or four years where employees provide free labor and use of company equipment to complete work in the company's service area. The company also awarded the local Lake Restoration Commission $2,500 to pay for the sand. The nonprofit LIA paid for the first phase of the project, which was completed in early May. Local officials hope the beach will attract more visitors to the lake.
