Donald Smith
Donald A. Smith, 80, St. Marys, died at 6:27 p.m. Nov. 18, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born May 11, 1932, in Wayland, Ky., to Virgil and Rena Slone Smith. His mother survives. On Sept. 24, 1952, he married Elsie Hall, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Dwayne (Sue) Smith, San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, Derrick (Lisa) Smith, Vandalia, and Mark (Tami) Smith, St. Marys; three brothers, David Smith, Langley, Ky., Dingus Smith, Allen, Ky., and Doug Smith, Allen, Ky.; a sister, Dolores Conn, Allen, Ky.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Daniel Smith and Dareld Smith.
He graduated in 1950 from high school in Martin, Ky., and in 1952 from Mayo State Vocational School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., St. Marys.
He was a member of Hillsdale Baptist Church, St. Marys, where he had served as a teacher and superintendent of the Sunday School program.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, pastors Harold Liess and John Dodds officiating. Burial with graveside military honors will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
