William Now
William F. Now, 84, Rockford, died at 7:10 p.m. Nov. 20, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Jay W. and Thelma Siler Now. On Dec. 9, 1949, he married Mary Jane Vorhees, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Randy Jay (Lauren) Now, Lompoc, Calif., and Bradley Now, Rockford; one sister, Shirley Roebuck, Celina; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
Deceased are a brother, Jack Now, and a sister, Jean Sweigart.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1945 to 1946 and during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He was retired from the Fremont Co., Rockford, where he worked as agriculture manager.
He served on the board of directors and as former president of the Ohio Food Processors Association and on the board of public affairs for Rockford Water Department. He also was a member of Rockford Village Council for four years and Parkway board of education for 12 years and volunteered for the Rockford Fire Department for 30 years.
He was a past master of Shane's Lodge 377 F&AM and belonged to Fraternal Order of Eagles 1292, American Legion Post 508 and First Presbyterian Church, Rockford. He was active in Youth for Understanding, a foreign exchange student program.
Funeral services are 7 p.m. Monday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, Rev. Mark Rutledge officiant.
Calling is 2-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Shane's Park, Rockford.
