Hazel Fireoved
Hazel Margaret Fireoved, 91, Mendon, died March 12, 2013, at Colonial Nursing Center, Rockford.
She was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Center Township, Mercer County, to Purn Ray and Rhoda Hannah Newcomb Copeland. She married Lawrence Delbert Donovan on Aug. 16, 1940, and he died in 1949. She then married Wayne Eugene Fireoved on May 30, 1956, and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry Roger Donovan, Dryden, Mich., and Dennis (Ann) Fireoved, Mendon; a daughter, Lori (Nathan) Weaks, Swanton; eight grandchildren, Roger (Karen) Donovan, Cinda (Art) Nelson, Lindsay, Evan and Ariel Weaks, Kelsey Springer and Ethan and Austin Fireoved; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Nelson and Steven and Brian Donovan.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Ray Donovan, who died in 1944, and seven siblings, Nellie Markley Miles, Alberta Pfost Shock, Mary Foster, Grace Now, Mae Rogers, Carl Copeland and G. Robert Copeland.
She graduated from Center Township High School in Neptune. She was a member of the Mendon Garden Club and Mendon United Methodist Church and had formerly been a member of the Mercer United Methodist Church. She helped run the Midway Inn Restaurant at Mercer for several years and had worked at Reynolds & Reynolds Printing Service for six years. She was a homemaker, genealogist, flower gardener, family historian and octogenarian Facebook user.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mendon United Methodist Church, the Rev. Don Clinger will officiate. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Mendon, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
