Max Young
Max M. Young, 91, Celina, passed away April 29, 2013, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Allen County, Ind., to William Homer and Dessie Keplinger Young. On June 21, 1963, he married Virginia Sheets, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Scott, Toledo, and two sisters-in-law, Alice Sheets and Audrey Schlotterer, both of Celina.
Deceased are a sister, Mary Henry, and four brothers, Robert, John, Ralph and Sam Young.
He was the maintenance superintendent at New Idea, Coldwater, for many years.
He was a member of Celina First Presbyterian Church, Celina Masonic Lodge 241 and Celina VFW Post 5713. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy and in the Coast Guard.
He was fascinated with cars and their inner workings. He was a true "handyman" who was able to fix anything. He especially enjoyed electrical and woodworking projects.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Dave Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina, with graveside military rites by the Celina VFW and American Legion.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
