Gayle Johnson
Gayle D. Johnson, 77, Fort Recovery, died May 6, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 6, 1935, in Redkey, Ind., to William and Maude Henry Johnson.
On Nov. 6, 1955, he married Helen Eichenauer in Angola, Ind., and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Doug Johnson of Fort Recovery and Leslie Johnson of Fort Recovery; two daughters, Cindy Bradley of Lowell, Ind., and Becky (Ray) Link of Maria Stein; three brothers, Glen "Jay" Johnson of Redkey, Ind., Damon (Herta) Johnson of Redkey, Ind., and Kenny (Mary Jane) Johnson of Albany, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Helen Reynolds of Dunkirk, Ind., and Marjorie Forrest of Greenfield, Ind.; a grandchild, Jamie Bradley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Georgia Johnson of Bluffton, Ind., Daris Johnson of Knoxville, Tenn., Lana Johnson of Punta Gorda, Fla., Carroll (Alice) Eichenauer of Fort Recovery, Vernon Eichenauer of Fort Recovery and Don Brautigam of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Johnson, Harry Johnson and Keith Johnson; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervin Reynolds, Karl Forrest, Norma Jean (Bob) Cron, Lola Brautigam, Jean Eichenauer and Ruth Eichenauer.
He worked as a real estate broker and appraiser. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge #539 in Fort Recovery, and served as Worshipful Master. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Fort Recovery, and formerly served as an EMT First Responder in the Fort Recovery area. He was a recipient of the Fort Recovery Citizen of the Year Award in 1981 and also received the Celina Area Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Award in 1981.
He attended Fort Recovery United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery, the Rev. Allan Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Fort Recovery American Legion and a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Masonic Lodge in Fort Recovery.
