Paul Wenning
Paul C. Wenning, 88, Coldwater, died Dec. 3, 2013, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Coldwater, to Frank and Frances Stegeman Wenning. On Aug. 20, 1949, he married Camilla Tobe, who survives in Coldwater.
Also surviving are three children, Charles (Karen) Wenning, Shelley (Keith) Grieshop and Nathan (Karen) Wenning, all of Coldwater; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Ontrop, Coldwater; and sisters-in-law, Linda Wenning and Margaret Wenning, both of Coldwater, Donna Jean (Walt) Zagar, Chardon, and Ruth Tobe, Fort Recovery.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Evelyn Wint-Kaucher, Les and Elaine Wenning, Lillian and Norb Dues and Francis Wenning; and in-laws, Jim Ontrop, Joe Wint, Ben Kaucher, Clete and Verena Tobe, Bonnie and Joe Scherra, Mary and Harold Schwieterman, Otto Tobe and Joe Tobe.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, where he was a parish council member, communion distributor and CCD teacher. He also volunteered at Celina Manor nursing home for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a radio operator during World War II, and was a lifetime member of the Coldwater American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus. He had an accounting degree from the University of Dayton and worked as an accountant at the former Avco New Idea, Coldwater, from 1951-1990.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater, with military rites.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
Memorials may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or the Gardens at St. Henry Activity Fund.
