Richard Langenkamp
Richard E. Langenkamp, 91, Coldwater, formerly of St. Henry, died Nov. 27, 2014, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born July 12, 1923, in St. Henry, to Henry and Anna Brackman Langenkamp. On May 14, 1949, he married Verena Bills, who survives in Coldwater.
Also surviving are five children, Rita (Ron) Kremer, New Bremen, Rene Warren (Ed Anthony), Columbus, Agnes Gibson, Covington, Henry (Patricia) Langenkamp, St. Henry, and James (Susan) Langenkamp, Corpus Christi, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Fr. Arnold Langenkamp and Fr. August Langenkamp, both of Northbrook, Ill.
Also deceased are three brothers, Norbert Langenkamp, Brother Berchmans Langenkamp and Ralph Langenkamp and five sisters, Marie Mohlman, Sister Anastasia Langenkamp, Sister Norberta Langenkamp, Dorothy Muhlenkamp and Anna Miller.
He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, and its Men's Sodality; the St. Henry Knights of Columbus; 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Minster; Catholic Rural Life, Dayton; and the Ohio Council of Churches, Columbus.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and he was a retired farmer. He enjoyed fishing, swimming and volunteering at the Center for Neurological Development, Burkettsville. He was a blood donor and hospice volunteer. He loved his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery.
Calling is 1-6 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
Memorials may be given to the Center for Neurological Development, Burkettsville.
