Verlin Orick
Verlin Orick, 72, of Saint Marys, Ohio, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, passed into eternity on March 20, 2015, at his home near Grand Lake Saint Marys.
Verlin was born in Pruden, Tennessee, on March 15, 1943, the son of Elvin and Mary (Adkins) Orick, who preceded him in death. Verlin married the love of his life, Janie Lou Nicholson on October 14, 1967, in Jellico, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife Janie, and their two children: Beverly (Daniel) Fink of Wapakoneta and Verlin (Amanda) Orick, Jr. of Celina; by five grandchildren: Victoria (Dustin) Kohli; Jonathan Putman; James Neumeier; Cassie Orick; and Wyle Orick. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Dustin Kohli, Jr; Derek Kohli; Derin Kohli and Ava Neumeier. Verlin is also survived by one sister, Evelyn "Bug" (Hewill) Teague of Saint Marys; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Hubert Orick; Clyde Orick; Charles Orick; Luke Orick and Earl Orick; by seven sisters: Hannah Partin; Francis Orick; Geneva Davis; Retha Schell; Edith Orick; Judy Beagle and Pearl Walker.
Verlin retired from Ohio Decorative Products in Spencerville, Ohio, where he worked under plant manager Clarence "Sunny" Degen and Charles "Chuck" Moeller in the buffing department of almost 50 years.
Verlin's all time favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and friends. He was an avid wrestling fan. He was notorious for his gardening on the corner of Columbia and Scott streets in Saint Marys for decades. For many years, Verlin had enjoyed fishing.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 25, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio, Pastor Elmer Davis, officiant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to Verlin's family.
