Albert Grieshop
"Bert" Albert Joseph Grieshop, age 81, Versailles, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at his residence, early Sunday morning, June 7, 2015. He had been seriously ill for three years.
He was born March 13, 1934, in Yorkshire, Ohio, to Frank and Rosa (Mueller) Grieshop.
Surviving are eleven siblings: Louis & Mary Ann Grieshop of Versailles, Betty Lange of St. Henry, Mary Ann & Carl Pohl of Maria Stein, Linus & Jane Grieshop of Minster, Martha & Edward Schroeder of Anna, Robert & Judith Grieshop of Yorkshire, Frank C. & Jean Grieshop of Russia, Jerome & Madonna Grieshop of Yorkshire, Florence Wenning of Springboro, Jane & Nicholas Varney of Homer Alaska, Nancy Grieshop of Kettering, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his longtime special friend and care giver, Dianne Bair of Piqua, and her family: John Bair of Dayton, Paul Bair of St. Paris, and Michelle & Mike Herndon of Piqua.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Grieshop, and brothers-in-law, Alfred Lange and Robert Wenning.
Mr. Grieshop served in the US Army and had been stationed in Germany following the Korean War. He retired in 1996 from the Stolle Corporation in Sidney where he was employed 40 years. He had also been engaged in farming all of his working life.
Albert attended St. Nicholas Catholic Church and was also a member of the Stetsons Traveling Squares of Troy. An avid AC tractor fan; Bert also loved square dancing, camping trips, garage sales, and visiting with family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, June 12, 2015, at St. Nicholas Church in Osgood with Rev. David L. Zink presiding. Interment will follow at St. Martin Cemetery with military honors by the Osgood Legion Firing Squad.
Friends may call Thursday 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or the charity of donor's choice.
