North Central Shelby County in west central Ohio... * WHEN...Until 1015 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 714 AM EDT, radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... At 709 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near Ohio City, moving southeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 45 mph and very heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Visibility will be poor and hydroplaning is possible. Locations impacted include... Celina, St. Marys, Coldwater, New Bremen, St. Henry, Fort Recovery, Rockford, Wabash, Mendon, Chickasaw, Montezuma, Chattanooga, Kossuth, Tama, Neptune, Carthagena, and Bulkhead. Officials not sure if additional runoff will affect algae blooms

CELINA - This summer's heavy rains have not greatly affected dredging on Grand Lake, but officials still don't know how the weather will affect the lake's algae problem.
Local weather forecaster Dennis Howick said as of this morning, the area had received a record 12.48 inches of rain this month. The area normally receives 3.86 inches of rain in June. The prior record of 8.48 inches of rain was set in 1958. [More]
