Frederick Schumm
Frederick J. Schumm, 82, Willshire, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at his farm.
He was born July 7, 1933, in Van Wert County - Ohio, to Arnold L. and Naomi M. Schumm. Both are deceased. He married Eileen J. Saalfrank on February 21, 1960 and she passed away on September 26, 2011.
Fred was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church - Schumm; Van Wert County Farm Bureau, he had formerly served as president; Van Wert County Dairy Service Unit.
Fred served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Fred was a lifelong farmer, and a carpenter with Baker and Schumm Construction.
Survivors are Son Michael E. (Robin) Schumm, Willshire; Son Marlin J. Schumm, Willshire; Son Maurice C. Schumm, Willshire; Sister, Wilma L.Schmidt, Ft. Wayne, IN; 3 Grandsons: Adam, Ronald, Brett Schumm.
Preceded in death by: 1 sister, Lois M. Schumm; Infant brother and sister who were twins.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in the Zion Lutheran Church - Schumm, rural Willshire, OH, Pastor Jeffery Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery - Schumm. Military Graveside honors by Willshire American Legion Post #207.
Visitation is 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church – Schumm Building Improvement Fund.
