Gerald Long
Gerald A. "Sonny" Long, 86, of Wapakoneta died at 10:20 a.m. Monday December 21, 2015 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster.
He was born on April 16, 1929 in Wapakoneta to Carl S. & Alena (Borges) Long who preceded him in death.
Survivors include 3 sisters Phyllis (LeRoy) Kessen of Coldwater, Ida Lou Harrod of Wapakoneta, Mary Ann Garman of Chickasaw, a sister-in-law Marlene Long of Greenville and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers Harold (Marie) Long, Delbert Long, John (Mary Ann) Long, two brother-in-laws Francis Harrod and Virgil Garman.
Gerald was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and then served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at the Wapakoneta Post Office for 35 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 8445, Eagles 691 and the Elks.
A private family service will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
The family had entrusted Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services to handle the arrangements.
