Florence Miller
Florence E. Miller, 86, of Rockford, Ohio, died suddenly at Parkview Regional Medical Center on Thursday night, January 14, 2016.
She was born in Willshire Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, on September 20, 1929. She was the daughter of Cornelius L. and Hilda (Scaer) Schumm. She graduated from Willshire High School in Willshire, Ohio, and on December 3, 1950, she married Herbert M. Miller, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2012.
Florence was a bookkeeper for 33 years at the Willshire Grain and Supply Co. in Willshire, and she was a faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Chattanooga, Ohio, where she served as the church's Financial Secretary for 28 years. She and Herb were very proud of the fact that their farms were recognized as Century Farms of Ohio. Florence was a wonderful cook; she loved working in her flower gardens in the summertime, and she most definitely had a green thumb - her flowers were amazing! She and Herb were quite the globe trotters, traveling extensively in both the United States and abroad - they enjoyed the time together and the wonderful sights as they traveled the globe.
Surviving is one daughter, Karen (Joe) Bennett of Celina, Ohio, one grandson, Jeffrey (Erin) Bennett of Powell, Ohio, and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Bennett, whom her great-grandmother adored. Surviving also are two sisters: Amy Boenker of Willshire, Ohio, and Esther (Alvin) Krueckeberg of Decatur, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 18, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Chattanooga with Pastor Karen Tamorria officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m., at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, Ohio, and on Monday, at the church, one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be directed to the church.
