Jones takes top honor

All-MAC Girls Basketball Team

New Bremen's Paige Jones was selected the MAC Girls Basketball Player of the Year on Wednesday.

New Bremen sophomore Paige Jones was the choice by the Midwest Athletic Conference girls basketball coaches for Player of the Year as the all-conference selections were released Wednesday evening.
The six-foot Jones was a key part in the Cardinals finishing the regular season 17-5 and tied for second in the conference with a 7-2 record. Jones led the team in scoring at 11.7 points per game and was second in assists with 2.6 per game and rebounds with 5.4 per game.
Conference champion Minster placed two players on the first team with junior Rosie Westerbeck and freshman Courtney Prenger. Fort Recovery, New Bremen, New Knoxville and Versailles also had two players named to the first team.
Minster coach Nann Stechschulte earned Coach of the Year honors for guiding the Wildcats to their first title in five seasons.

Division IV Girls Basketball Sectional - Allen East
HARROD - The Marion Local Flyers and New Knoxville Rangers made the long bus ride to Allen East High School Wednesday night to begin Division IV sectional play.

WAPAKONETA - Liberty-Benton bumped St. Henry off the tournament trail Wednesday night with a 52-27 victory in the girls Division III sectional semifinal at Wapakoneta High School.

Coldwater junior Caleb Keck repeated as Division II Bowling Green district diving champion and will make his third consecutive trip to the state meet after winning on Wednesday afternoon at Bowling Green State University.
