Robert Tangeman
Robert B. "Bob" Tangeman, age 90 of Maria Stein, died on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at his residence.
He was born on May 6, 1926 in Maria Stein, to the late Bernard & Nora (Behrens) Tangeman. On November 19, 1955 he married Virginia Gaerke in St. Peter, and she survives in Maria Stein.
He is also survived by six children: Nancee & Mike Winner, Greenville, Marie & Mike Everman, Celina, Jerry & Karen Tangeman, Maria Stein, Jim & Angie Tangeman, Maria Stein, Jon & Gina Tangeman, Marysville, and Scott & Linda Tangeman, Chickasaw. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and in-laws: Charles & Betty Gaerke, Ft. Recovery, Mary Ann Homan, Coldwater, Marcey & Dick Topp, Dayton, Lillian Gaerke-Homan, Coldwater, Dorothy Gaerke, Ft. Recovery, & Janet Gaerke, Ft. Recovery.
He is preceded in death by siblings: Dorothea & Cecil Koons, Margaret & George Copeland, Norma Tangeman, Louis & Betty Tangeman; and in-laws: Lorine & Maurus Forthofer, Jerry & Irene Gaerke, Herb & Dorothy Gaerke, Leonard Gaerke, Harold & Eileen Gaerke, Luella & Walter Franck, Bernard Gaerke, Virgil & Marilyn Gaerke, Wilma Gaerke, Wilbur Homan, Cletus Homan, and Henry T. Gaerke Jr.
Bob was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and was co-founder of Tangeman Orchard in Maria Stein. He also retired from Goodyear in St. Marys, after 37 and one-half years.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, and Men's Sodality. Bob also formerly served as a parish council member, and was a lay distributor for eight years.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as a Staff Sergeant in WWII.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein. Burial with military rites will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 until 8 pm Friday and 8:00 until 9:00 am Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Maria Stein Shrine, or State of the Heart Care.
