James Geise
James Dale Geise, age 78 of Vandalia, husband of Lucille (Hein) Geise, died peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2016, at The Hospice of Dayton surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
He was born October 23, 1937 in St. Marys, Ohio to the late Arthur and Cecilia (Watercutter) Geise.
Jim was a 1954 graduate of Coldwater High School. Jim owned and operated the Dayton International Airport Barbershop from 1964 to 1973, then spent the next 31 years at Dayton Door Sales where he retired.
Jim was an active member of St. Christopher's Parish in Vandalia and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and their many activities along with boating and fishing at Grand Lake St. Marys. Jim was an avid UD basketball fan and took pleasure in traveling with his wife and friends.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 57 blessed years, Lucy; their three sons and their wives, Chris (Suzy), Dan (Amy), Jeff (Amy); 11 grandchildren, Sam, Maddie, Nate, Ike, Ander, Matthew, Sarah, Joey, Julia, Leah and Tommy Carter; siblings Betty (Gene) East, the late Dottie (Bob) Bruggeman, Bill (Joan) Geise, Ruth (the late Al) Hausfeld, Carol (Frank) Pohl; in-laws, Virginia (the late Ott) Moeller, Bert (the late Red) Everman, Dort (the late Phil) Hollings-worth, Junior (the late Pat) Hein & Ron (Marcia) Hein.
The family will be receiving friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday (7/19) at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia, and from 10:00–11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the church, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Francis Keferl at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Vandalia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made in memory of Jim to Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, St. Christopher Catholic Church, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
