Tom Burden
Tom S. Burden, 78, Saint Marys, Ohio, died Sunday, January 8, 2017, after a brief illness.
He was born February 16, 1938, in Saint Marys, the son of Ned and Annabelle (Sheaks) Burden. He married Gayla Bambauer on February 1, 1957; she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his nine children: Marscia (Jeffrey) Fleagle of Saint Marys; Coleen (John) Levalley of Saint Marys; Christine (Mike) Tully of Kettlersville; Tom (Sally) Burden of Celina; Michele (Mike) Shaffer of Findlay; Mary Ann (Jeffrey) Thornsberry of Saint Marys; Catherine (Anthony) Dodson of Saint Marys; Crystal (Robert) Blank, II, of Pandora, Ohio; Timothy Burden of Saint Marys. He is survived by 27 grandchildren; by 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Dale (Marcia) Burden of Lima; Roger (Connie) Burden of Lakeview, Ohio; Bruce (Carolyn) Burden of Lafayette, Ohio; Catherine (Richard) Appleton of Lima; Dan (Deb) Burden of Waynesfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a granddaughter, Moriah Dodson.
Tom attended Blume High School in Wapakoneta, and the Hobart School of Welding. He was the retired owner/operator of several local businesses, including Tom Burden Construction, Tom Burden Snow Removal; and Increte Burden Concrete Patterning. He had previously served as Urban Housing Inspector for the City of Saint Marys.
He had also served as 4th Ward Councilman for the City of Saint Marys and was the Past President of the Auglaize County Camp of Gideons International. He was an active member of Only Believe Ministries in Botkins. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting and woodworking.
Funeral rites will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, Pastor Peter Doseck, officiant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Auglaize County Gideons.
