MINSTER - Well-wishers from the village, Jackson Township and all over the state turned out Sunday to honor retiring fire chief Dale Dues.
A commemoration ceremony and open house was held at the Minster Knights of Columbus Hall on Sunday afternoon to allow area residents and firefighters to offer congratulations and appreciation for Dues' 40 years of service to the Minster-Jackson Township Fire Department. [More]

The state issued 158,982 concealed-carry handgun licenses in 2016 - the highest number since licenses had first been issued in 2004.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine made the announcement last week, noting the previous record had been set in 2013 with 145,342 licenses issued.
Fun activities set for Celina, Maria Stein
CELINA - The student-led Camp Kazoo will return to Celina this summer and expand into Maria Stein.

MENDON - A Mendon resident was taken to the hospital after a possible drug overdose early Saturday morning.
The Mercer County Sheriff's Department received a call from a male at 5:40 a.m. reporting a possible heroin overdose in the 7000 block of Deep Cut Road, Mendon, according to a report.
WAPAKONETA - It took about a quarter for Minster to adjust to what Upper Scioto Valley was doing.
From the second quarter on, it was all Wildcats as they captured the Division IV Wapakoneta District championship with a 73-52 win over the Rams on Saturday night.
ST. MARYS - The Marion Local Flyers cut down the net after defeating Allen East, 64-46, in Saturday's Division III sectional title game.
