Robert Prenger
Robert A. Prenger, 80, of Minster, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on February 2, 1937 to Edward and Catherine (Homan) Prenger. He was married on Dec. 29, 1959, in Egypt, to Doris Ann Hoying who preceded him in death.
He is survived by their 10 children, Kristine Prenger, Minster; Patrick and Darlene Prenger, Tipp City; Lisa and Larry Trimbach, Dayton; Ann Prenger, Columbus; Karla and Greg Herman, Dayton; Tracy and Brad Heitkamp, Minster; Katrina and Tim Nixon, Minster; Jessica and Kaustubh Bhalerao, Champaign, IL.; Monica and Alon Huddleston, Westfield, IN.; and Philip Prenger, Columbus. Robert is also survived by thirty-three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are his siblings, Norma and Leo O'Reilly, Minster, Edward and Norma Prenger, Minster, Wilfred and Carol Prenger, Sidney, Lorena and Norman Bohman, Maria Stein, Ralph May, Coldwater, Al and Mary Prenger, Minster, Ken and Diane Prenger, Minster, and Tom and Donna Prenger, Tipp City, his in-laws, Walter and Sharon Hoying, Sidney, Nick and Joyce Hoying, Minster, Sister Carolyn Hoying C.PP.S., Chicago, Larry and Karen Hoying, Sidney, Roger and Kay Hoying, Fort Loramie, Marge and Mike Kitzmiller, Fort Loramie, James and Marty Hoying, Russia, Mary Agnes and Gary Muhlenkamp, Geneva, IN., and Elaine and Jim Staton, Jackson Center.
He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn May, and in-laws, Phyllis Hoying, Bud and Doris Hoying.
Robert was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Parish Council, former president of Minster Civic Association, volunteered at Radio Maria, was an announcer at Minster Memorial Stadium, and was a founding member of the Minster Area Life Squad. He also served in the US Army.
Robert was an owner/operator of several local businesses and advocated to buy local. After retirement, he enjoyed time with family, traveling, and talking with everyone who passed by his front porch.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday May 19 at St. Augustine Church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Radio Maria or Minster Area Life Squad.
