Construction of a new 10-unit T-hangar is underway at Lakefield Airport in Montezuma. In 2011, strong winds destroyed a six-unit T-hangar. The project will cost $745,630. The Federal Aviation Administration will pay for 90 percent of the project for a total of $449,736 and the Ohio Department of Transportation will cover 5 percent of the costs, $25,285, according to a resolution provided by the Mercer County Commissioners. The county will provide a 5 percent local match, ineligible costs and upfront construction costs. The local share including upfront funding is $271,209.
