Shrine to host Fatima Mass
By Ed Gebert
MARIA STEIN - A large crowd is expected tonight at the Spiritual Center of Maria Stein as the Most Rev. Joseph Binzer, bishop in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, will celebrate Mass celebrating 100 years since the apparitions at Fatima.
The celebration will include holy Mass at 7:30 p.m. and the coronation of the Centennial Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which has been blessed by Pope Francis. After dark, a candlelight rosary will take form on the grounds as each prayer is recited. The program will conclude with a candlelight procession around the grounds. Candles and holders will be available.
The theme for the event is "The Urgent Call for Prayer and Reparation: The Appeal of our Lady of Fatima." Event organizer Ginny Dies said a crowd of 12,000-16,000 is expected.
Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair, flashlight and a rosary. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. A donation will be accepted for candles, holders and other expenses. General, handicapped-accessible and bus parking will be available on the grounds.
The Spiritual Center of Maria Stein is located at 2365 St. Johns Road.
