Albert Hoelscher
Albert A. Hoelscher, age 95, of Fort Loramie passed away of natural causes Sunday afternoon, August 20, 2017, at the Versailles Health Care Center in Versailles, Ohio.
He was born January 7, 1922, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, to the late Louis and Henrietta (Hilgefort) Hoelscher.
On July 16, 1947, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Burkettsville, Albert married Lucille (Rindler) Hoelscher who survives. Also surviving are four children: Stanley & Cheryl Hoelscher of North Star, Karen & Robert Schwartz of Fort Loramie, Debra Hoelscher of Fort Loramie and Beverly & John Evans of Piqua; six grandchildren: Chad & Valerie Hoelscher, Stacy & Greg O'Dell, Jason & Stacie Hoelscher, Kimberly Schwartz, Christie Evans & Scott Mowery, Brad & Alexa Evans along with eight great-grandchildren and one step great-granddaughter; seven siblings: Juliana Phlipot of Versailles, Armella Albers of McCartyville, Nick & Marlene Hoelscher of Minster, Cyril & Marilyn Hoelscher of Fort Loramie, Doris Hoehne of Fort Loramie, James & Judy Hoelscher of Fort Loramie, Nelson Hoelscher of Houston and brothers-in-law: Frank Hoehne of Fort Loramie and Melvin Rindler of Montezuma.
He was preceded in death by four siblings: Jerome & Patricia Hoelscher, Arnold Hoelscher, Marlene Hoehne and Paul Hoelscher; sisters & brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Mary Hoelscher, Harold Phlipot, Raymond Albers, Urban Hoehne, Lucy Hoelscher, Cletus & Delores Rindler, Arthur & Alvina Rindler, Viola & Andrew Moeller and Armella & Jerome Moeller.
Albert was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He served in Company K 130 Infantry and had been awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired in 1984 from Hoelscher & Son Masonry where he had been owner and operator for 30 years. Albert was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Knights of St. John Commandery #300, Fort Loramie American Legion Post #355 and the Sidney VFW Post #4239. In his leisure, Al enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, August 25, 2017, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion.
