Patricia Kessen
Patricia Loretta (Eilts) Kessen, age 68, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Mayfair Village Nursing Home in Dublin, Ohio. She was born on August 25, 1948 in Streator, Illinois to John E. and Verna (Gneckow) Eilts.
She graduated from Streator Township High School in Streator, Illinois in 1966 and attended LPN school at St. Mary's Hospital in LaSalle, Illinois in 1967 after which she began a long and successful career as a nurse. In 1986, she obtained her Registered Nursing Degree from Lima Technical College. During her career she worked at several nursing homes and hospitals including Briarwood Manor, Mercer Health Hospital, The Gables at Green Pastures, St. Mary's Hospital in Streator, Illinois, in addition to many doctor's offices and home health care.
She was formerly married to William (Bill) Kessen who died February 2, 2005. Together they co-owned Wayne Trail Dragway in Middlespoint, Ohio in the late 70's to early 80's and enjoyed many years drag racing with friends.
Pat is survived by her two daughters, Lori (Gregg) Slawinski of Marysville, Ohio and Jodi (Will) O'Steen of Zephyrhills, Florida; three sisters, Judye (Robert) Humenick of Hudson, Illinois, Joan (Patrick) Bost of Ottawa, Illinois and Joyce (Myles) VanDuzer of The Villages, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and several friends at the Richwood Greene Apartments.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, George and Blanche Eilts of Wenona, Illinois and Marie Baima of Olgesby, Illinois and her former in-laws, Urban and Corinne Kessen of Celina, Ohio.
Pat will be remembered as an amazing care-taker both in her professional and personal lives. She was born to take care of people and did so in a most selfless manner.
A private memorial service will be held in Illinois at a later date with family. Interment will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina, Ohio.
