Patricia Settlemire
Patricia H. Settlemire, 93, formerly of Lima, died Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community.
She was born October 8, 1923, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick and Winifred (Smith) Clark.
She married James Settlemire on November 9, 1944, in Sloane, Iowa, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 2014.
Patricia was a registered nurse who worked general and private duty at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Lima, and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. Mrs. Settlemire volunteered for many years at the St. Vincent DePaul store and the American Red Cross. Her retirement years were spent with her husband traveling around the country, and wintering in Florida in their RV. She raised her family in Perry Township prior to moving to Otterbein Saint Marys in 2007.
Mrs. Settlemire supported Lima Central Catholic School while her children attended, and for many years after. She helped support the family so that her children could graduate from college. She attended her nine grandchildrens' high school and college graduations in eight states. Patricia loved Ohio State University Buckeye football, and NASCAR races.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Claire (Tom) Rampe of Celina; sons James (Pat) Settlemire of Loveland, Ohio; Michael (Marijo) Settlemire of Huntsville, Alabama. She is survived by her sisters-in-law: Donna Kerr of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; Betty Settlemire of Surprise, Arizona. She is survived by her nine grandchildren: Kelly Myers; Christopher Rampe; Patricia Rampe; Jennifer Badger; Jessica Hazelwood; Jim Settlemire; Matthew Settlemire; Michel Wynn; Melinda Settlemire; and by ten great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 22, 2017, at St. John's Catholic Church, 777 South Main Street, Lima. Burial will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral Mass at the church, where memorial gifts may be given to St. John's Catholic Church.
