Marta Hoelscher
Marta K. Hoelscher age 55 of New Bremen, died on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 12:15 A.M. at the Roselawn Manor of Spencerville, after an extended illness.
She was born on March 1, 1962, in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Don B. Hoelscher, and Anna Louise (Schmidt) Hoelscher who survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are her sons Matthew (Lauren) Dennings of Redlands, California, and Jon (Rachel) Dennings of Blacklick, Ohio, four granddaughters, a sister Janet (Rex) Katterheinrich of Wapakoneta, and a nephew Alex Fisher.
Marta was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, where she was involved in the Worship Team, the Discipleship Team, the Chancel Choir and was also the Webmaster of the church's website. For many years Marta chaired the St. Marys Chili Supper as well as serving on a variety of civic and educational boards.
An avid reader, Marta developed a faithful online following for her book reviews and suggestions. She was a 1980 graduate of New Bremen High School and attended both Bowling Green and Wright State University, and for many years she worked at the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce.
A Celebration of Life Service to honor her life will be held on September 28, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, with Rev. Becky Erb Strang and Pastor Dee Schroer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery near New Knoxville at a later date.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church, and after the services when a time of dessert and visitation will be held in the assembly room at the church.
Memorial contributions in memory of Marta can be made to the St. Paul Church Community Aid Fund.
