Light snow will move across the region today. While accumulations are expected to be less than an inch, the snow may cause some slick areas on roads, especially untreated ones as well as bridges and overpasses. The snow will blow around easily and occasionally reduce visibility as well, as winds will gust to 20 to 25 MPH later today.
Use extra caution if driving late this morning into the afternoon and allow extra time to reach your destination.

Equinox dawns

The sun rises over St. Charles Senior Living Center in Carthagena this morning. Today is the equinox and the first day of fall, meaning both daylight and darkness last 12 hours today. Thursday, the last day of summer, was the hottest day of the year so far, reaching a high temperature of 92 degrees, according to local weatherman Dennis Howick.
