The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Donald Maharg
Donald Eugene Maharg Sr., age 92, of Celina, Ohio passed away on Thursday Oct. 5, 2017 at the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater. He was born on May 27, 1925 in Licking County, Ohio to the late Irvin & Lola (Mc Laughlin) Maharg. On May 22, 1948 he married Virginia E. Chappell in Wooster, Ohio and she is surviving.
Also surviving are his children Donald Maharg Jr. of Celina, Brenda Stammen of Celina, Barbara (William) Stallings of Burlington, KY, Richard (Tina) Maharg of Celina, Michael Maharg of Celina, Dorothy (Art) Buschur of Pennville, IN, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, a sister Ruth Knight of Utica and son-in-law Paul Van Leuven of Auburn, IN.
Donald was preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Van Leuven, son James, brothers Paul, Kenneth, Jim, a sister Helen and a son-in-law James Stammen. Donald attended Newark Schools, then served his country in the Navy from 1943-1946 in Guadalcanal with the M.O.B. #88. He worked on the railroad and for utilities companies, then retired from DP&L in 1982. He was a member of the Beaver Chapel Congregational Christian Church in Celina and a member of the Celina V. F. W. Post #5713.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday Oct. 9, 2017 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Christen officiating. Burial will follow in Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina, with Military Honors by the Celina American Legion and Celina V.F.W. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 8, 2017 and from 12-1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
