William Broering
William R. "Bill" Broering, 64, of Willowdell, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at home surrounded by family.
He was born on July 12, 1953 in Coldwater to the late Joseph and Ann Rita (Jutte) Broering. He married Judy (Huelsman) Broering on November 10, 1996 and she survives in Willowdell.
He is also survived by children: Scott & Elise Huelskamp (children: Samuel, Lewis) of Bellbrook, Jake & Christy Broering (Greta, Simon, Delia, Vayda) of Willowdell, Eric & Jodi Huelskamp (Natalie, Dylan, Abigail, Emilie, Tiffanie) of Cranberry, Beth Huelskamp & George Peterson of Cincinnati, Bonnie & Adam Lindner (Isaac, Bridget) of Dayton, and Carla Huelskamp & Josh Ziegler of Dayton. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law Bob & Marlene Huelsman of Cassella, and in-laws: Linda & Dan Thieman, Diana & Lavern Schulze, Alice & John Otte, Karen & Neil Romer, and John and Diane Huelskamp of St. Henry; Don & Terri Huelskamp, Ben & Annette Huelskamp, and Tess & Don Mescher of Maria Stein; Dottie & Bob Fullenkamp of Ft. Recovery; Tom & Kathy Huelsman of Chickasaw; John & Linda Huelsman of Cassella; Glen Huelskamp of Mayer, AZ; June & Rhonda Juliano-Huelskamp of Cincinnati, and a sister: Karen (Broering) Kettler of South Bend IN, and a daughter Sarah Mitchell of Columbus.
On November 24, 1979 Bill married Wanda (Eilerman) Broering, and she preceded him in death on January 17, 1995. Bill is also preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas Broering, as well as his father and mother in-law, Roman & Norma Huelskamp.
Bill was born at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Coldwater for the now unheard-of cost of $69.94. He graduated Versailles High School in 1971 and began farming with his father. He owned and operated Broering Feed Service from 1974-1989. He drove truck at Masland Industries (Sidney) and Berwick Steel (Piqua) before working at UPS in Celina.
He then earned his Associates degree in business/real estate from Edison State Community College in 2004 and began working as a licensed Realtor at Galbreath Realty in Troy. He owned and managed rental properties in Willowdell, Coldwater, and St. Henry.
Bill was a member of the Versailles K of C. Bill enjoyed going to auctions, playing cards, and collecting the local word around town. He loved spoiling his grandchildren, including making them wooden puzzles, and taking them on adventures. He enjoyed working with, and collecting, tools at home and on the farm, and helping his children with home-improvement projects. He will be remembered for his story telling and hearty laugh.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am on Monday November 6th at St. Francis Catholic Church, Cranberry Prairie. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, North Star.
Viewing will be on Sunday November 5th from 1-5 pm, and Monday 9-10 am at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
