Henry Drees
Henry B. Drees, age 94, of Montezuma and formerly of St. Wendelin, died on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born July 22, 1923 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio to the late Joseph & Katherine (Arling) Drees. On October 12, 1957 he married Zita Post, and she died May 30, 1989. He then married Wanda L. Meyers on December 29, 1990, and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2011.
He is survived by his three daughters: Madonna & Anthony Gigandet of Bellbrook, Mary K. Schulze of Worthington, Marilyn & Harold Grieshop of Montezuma; step children Wanda Jean & James Schumaker of Keene, N.H., and Victoria Hitchen of St. Marys. Henry is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, as well as two sisters: Jeanetta Vargo of Cazenovia, NY, and Rita Drees of Marion.
He is preceded in death by siblings: Richard Drees, Catherine & Bob Eilerman, and a brother in law Glen Vargo.
Henry was a 1941 graduate of Minster High School, and became the owner and an insurance agent for Drees Insurance Agency. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He was also formerly a director of the United Ohio Insurance Company, and a member of the St. Henry K of C, the Eagles in Wapakoneta, Catholic Financial Life in Cassella, the American Legion in Wapakoneta, Moose in Celina, and Brands Fishing Club in Wapakoneta.
Henry served in the Merchant Marines in WWII, and he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing and driving through Amish Country.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, St. Wendelin.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
