Ruth Aselage
Ruth A. (Simons) Aselage, age 94, formerly of Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes Sunday evening, November 19, 2017, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster, Ohio.
She was born August 4, 1923, in Frenchtown, OH, to the late Lawrence and Stella (Baltes) Simons. On October 18, 1947, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles, Ruth married Louis F. Aselage who preceded her in death on February 8, 1990.
Surviving are nine children: Diana & Edward Westerheide of Fort Loramie, David & Rose Marie Aselage of Fort Loramie, Doris & Dale Armstrong of Russia, Donna & Roger Weidner of Sidney, Debra Byers of Minster, Dorothy & Neal Schafer of Russia, Douglas & Debbie Aselage of Fort Worth, TX, Dennis & Joyce Aselage of Minster and Dale Aselage of Minster; 19 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verdice Brandts of Celina and Phyllis ImWalle of Dayton; sisters & brothers-in-law: Evelyn, Shirley, and Catherine Simons of Versailles and Urban & Connie Winner of Osgood.
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Aselage, one daughter-in-law, Marlene Aselage; seven siblings: Mary & Bill Dues, Genevieve & Alfred Tobe, Luella & Joe Dues, Alma & John Pequignot, John, Lawrence and Noah Simons as well as brothers-in-law, Jerry Brandts and Fred ImWalle.
Mrs. Aselage was a dedicated homemaker. She had also worked at Fort Loramie School and Frigidaire of Dayton.
Ruth was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Minster Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, and the Lake Loramie Improvement Association where she compiled and distributed the "Lake Book" for 40 years. She also served on the Shelby County Election Board.
Ruth enjoyed gardening, antiques, playing cards, decorating for Christmas and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Monday, November 27, 2017, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday 2:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
