Homer Schieltz
Homer H. Schieltz, age 95 formerly of Coldwater, died Sunday morning, December 3, 2017 in Greenacres, Florida.
He was born June 23, 1922 in Versailles to the late Peter J. & Rose (Dapore) Schieltz. On December 11, 1971, he married Clara D. (Selhorst) and she died April 3, 2007.
He is also survived by a daughter Patricia Bruggeman of Greenacres, Florida; and sisters-in-law, Frances Klenke and Peg Selhorst both of Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by a brother Harold & Rose Scheiltz; a sister Viola Schieltz and in-laws Hank Selhorst, Ludwig and Bertha Selhorst, Bernard & Carol Selhorst, Odelia Bruggeman, Jillian & Ray Wilker and Wilfred Klenke.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, and Coldwater American Legion Post #470. Homer was a veteran of the US Army and received the Purple Heart for his injuries in the battle of Normandy. Homer enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM on Friday and 9 to 10 AM on Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
