Cardinals fend off Redskins to pick up seventh win of the season

NEW BREMEN - Tuesday's girls' basketball game between New Bremen and Fort Loramie was a typical scrappy game between the teams.
The Cardinals took the lead for good late in the second quarter and then held off the Redskins for the final 16 minutes in winning 49-41 at Cardinals Gymnasium to improve to 7-1. [More]

Neal McCoy, Joe Diffie to perform on Aug. 10
CELINA - Country music stars Neal McCoy and Joe Diffie will headline the 2018 Mercer County Fair's entertainment.
The two will perform on the opening night of the fair at 8 p.m. Aug. 10. The fair will continue through Aug. 16.
CELINA - Plans for the new Harley Jones Rotary Memorial Amphitheater continue to advance as city council members this week approved first reading of an ordinance to purchase materials for the new structure, the planned centerpiece of the new Bryson Park District.
MINSTER - Full-time village employees will receive a 3-percent pay raise for 2018, and part-time workers will receive an additional 25 cents per hour.
The raises were given after village council members met in executive session for about 35 minutes on Monday after the regular council session.
ROCKFORD - 101.3 WRKD Radio Station Manager Jim Crocker on Tuesday told council members he has launched his own business, Crocker Media Group LLC, to manage the station and has opened a checking account for that business to pay the cost of running the station.
School board to consider request for 10-year break
FORT RECOVERY - Cheeseman Transport officials are asking school board members to approve a 100-percent, 10-year tax abatement on a $1.7 million expansion to their building on State Route 119.
