James Layman
James M. Layman, Sr., 70, Celina, died 1:18 P.M. Tuesday, January 30, 2018, comforted by his family, Putnam County Hospice, and the nurses at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1947, in Weirton, West Virginia, the son of Frank and Mary (Pantel) Layman. He married Mary Lou Brindley on December 17, 1966, in Streetsboro, Ohio; she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his two sons: James (Laura) Layman, Jr. of Celina; Brandan Layman of Celina. He is survived by two grandchildren: Kelsey Layman and James Layman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings: Sheila Hitchcock; Frankie Swiger; Paulette Courtney; Sue Schoonmaker.
Jim graduated from Follansbee High School. He was a veteran on the US Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He retired from the US Department of Agriculture where he served as a food inspector. He enjoyed fishing, boating and relaxing with his family.
Private family memorial rites will be held.
