Jean Hahn
Jean Ann (Bruns) Hahn, 72, of Fort Wayne, died on Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne after a long, courageous battle against breast cancer.
She was born to the late Roman and Rita Bruns of St. Henry, Ohio, on August 3, 1945.
After graduation from St. Henry High School, Jean came to Fort Wayne to attend college at the University of St. Francis where she acquired her Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Education. During this time she met Joseph D. Hahn, her devoted husband, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage in May of 2017.
Their two sons Christopher and Jason benefited by having Jean as mother and teacher. Jean lived her many roles in life to the fullest as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and teacher. She gave 38 years of service to the Diocese of Ft. Wayne by teaching in its parochial schools at St. John the Baptist, Fort Wayne, from 1969 to 2001, and Bishop Luers High School from 2001 to 2007.
In her role as teacher, she touched and enriched the lives of her many students as they passed through her classroom where she taught many important life lessons along with the history curriculum. A former student recently commented that next to his mother, Mrs. Hahn was the most influential woman in his life.
