Calvin Carr
Calvin Carr, age 94, of Rockford, Ohio, passed away at Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 12:38 am.
He was born December 27, 1923 in Rockford to the late J. Dewey and Lillian (Martz) Carr. On January 4, 1947 he married Ruth (Bollenbacher) Carr, and she survives at the residence.
Other survivors include three sons, C. Douglas (Teresa) Carr, Rockford, Steven Carr, Michigan City, Indiana, and Bradley B. (Kimberly) Carr, Willshire, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Aaron, Sarah, Brent, Paul, and Adam; and eight great grandchildren.
Also preceded in death by a brother, Chester Carr; and a sister, Miriam Carr.
Calvin was a 1942 graduate of Rockford High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the WWII era. He retired after working 40 plus years as a heavy equipment operator on road construction.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, Rockford American Legion Post #508, Celina VFW 5713; and The Shanes Masonic Lodge #377 F.&A.M.
Calvin was a devoted husband and father, a fun loving grandpa, and had many friends. He enjoyed playing cards, watching football, and the sports channel. He will be missed by all.
Visitation hours will be from 4:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, June 28, 2018 in the Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. Masonic services will be held at 7:15 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, June 29, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township, 9009 State Route 118, Celina, Ohio 45822, with Rev. Karen Tamorria, officiating, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 am-10:30 am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, Ohio; where military honors will be provided.
Memorials can be made to CHP Hospice of Van Wert, Ohio, St. John Lutheran Church, Hopewell Township for Wernle Children's Home, or The Henderson Settlement.
