Major work on the way

CELINA - City officials are confident a major improvement project at the water treatment plant could get underway within the next six months after seeing promising preliminary results from a six-week pilot test.
Mayor Jef Hazel earlier this year revealed that Celina will continue to draw its drinking water from Grand Lake well into the future after an exhaustive, multiyear search of underground and surface alternatives came up dry. [More]

It took a while for the San Diego Padres and Nick Thwaits to get down to brass tacks.
But once the ball got rolling, it didn't take long for a deal to be made.
  The Padres and the Fort Recovery graduate and standout pitcher agreed to terms over the Independence Day holiday. Thwaits left early this morning for the Padres' complex in Peoria, Arizona, for his physical and his assignment to the minor leagues. [More]
