Ohio State's Seth Lonsway won for the first time with the Champion City Kings on Monday night.
And he did it in style.
The left-handed pitcher from Celina held Chillicothe hitless over six innings while racking up nine strikeouts and four walks in a 10-0 victory. Jonathan Jahn, Lonsway's teammate at Ohio State, threw the final three innings and completed the combined no-hitter. It was just the second no-no in the Prospect League this summer.
Lonsway had a 13.50 earned run average after his first appearance with the Kings. He has navigated his ERA down to 2.77 in his last three appearances. On the season (13 innings), Lonsway is 1-0 with 20 strikeouts and 13 walks while allowing just six hits.
Champion City ranks fifth in the Prospect League East Division.
San Diego Padres draftee Nick Thwaits made his pro debut in the Arizona Rookie League on Monday. He threw two scoreless and hitless innings for the AZL Padres 1, striking out three and walking one for the Padres 1 team in a 4-3, 12-inning loss to the San Francisco Giants Black.
