* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Ruth Myers
Ruth E. Myers, 75, of Rockford, died Thursday evening, August 30, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.
She was born February 8, 1943, in Celina, Ohio to the late John William and Grayce (Gibson) Shaffer. Ruth was a graduate of Rockford High School, Class of 1961, where she met the love of her life, Tom Myers. After attending Junior and Senior Proms together, Ruth and Tom were married September 12, 1964. They were lifelong members of Rockford United Methodist Church.
Ruth enjoyed needlepoint as well as arts and crafts, and she filled her home with her painted ceramics. She was a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and would spend countless hours putting them together with her son. Ruth spent many weekends and evenings camping with Tom, most recently at River Trail II in Mendon. Ruth suffered physically in her later years, but always felt well enough to play Bingo at the campground.
Ruth served as secretary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Rockford for over 40 years, having joined in 1971 as a charter member. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Van Wert.
She is survived by her husband, Tom of Rockford; son, Michael (Deb Cottrell) Myers of Rockford; daughter, Tamara (Peter) Brezniak of Crestview, FL; grandchildren: Andy & Justin Anderson; great-grandchildren: Bryce, Cameron & Gwendalyn; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brothers, Gale & Harold Shaffer.
Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 at Rockford United Methodist Church with Pastor Chip Steffy officiation. Interment will follow in Mercer Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, and again Wednesday at the church one hour prior to the funeral. The Rockford Eagles will conduct a service at 7 PM Tuesday evening.
