John Sites
John Paul Sites, age 86 of Celina, Ohio passed away Monday morning Sept. 17, 2018 at the Gardens at Celina.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1932 in Mercer County to the late Albert and Sarah (Kessel) Sites. On Dec. 5, 1954 he married Betty L. Zizelman, who lives in Celina.
Also surviving are his children Ed (Kathy) Sites, Barb (Steve Laudick) Kohnen, Deb (Gary) Harner, Judy (Kevin) Kuhn, Sallie (Craig) Pontsler, all of Celina. Nine grandchildren Adam Sites, Sam Sites, Jaime (Kurt) Bergman, Seth (Amanda) Kohnen, Emily (Tim) Rodefer, Josh (Jessica) Harner, Megan (Brian) Davis, Kaleb Kuhn, Kaity Kuhn, two step grandchildren Brittany (AJ) Scarpella, Jordan Germann, 10 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Ruth Sites of Celina.
John was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and sisters-in-law Snowden Sites, Ole (Doris) Sites, William (Ruthie) Sites, and two sisters and brothers-in-law Mary (Harold "Ben") Bilter, Martha (Lawrence "Rip") Van Winkle.
He graduated from Neptune High School with the class of 1950. Then served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a lifelong member of the St. John's Lutheran Church Hopewell, and a Lifelong member of the Celina V.F.W. Post #5713. John was also a member of the Celina American Legion Post #210.
Farming was his passion, he also Owned and Operated the Neptune Elevator. He was on the Board of Directors at Citizens Commercial Bank and the Community First Bank in Celina. John was also a former President of Neptune School Board.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday September 20, 2018 at the St. John's Lutheran Church Hopewell 9009 State Route 118 Celina, Ohio, with Pastor Karen Tamorria officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery in Celina, with Military Honors.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. American Legion and V.F.W. membership services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
