Celina fumbled away the game's opening kickoff against Ottawa-Glandforf on Friday.
But the Bulldogs didn't let the game get away as Brett Schwieterman had a big night running the ball and Celina outscored the Titans 28-10 over the final three quarters for a 42-24 win at Titan Stadium in Ottawa to improve to 4-1 and 3-1 in the Western Buckeye League.
"In the first half, especially, I thought on both sides of the ball we just made some mistakes that we shouldn't have made and it gave O-G a lot of momentum," Celina coach Brennen Bader said. "We were able to fight back in the second quarter and take the lead going into half, which a big momentum changer. In the second half, we just came out and I really thought our physicality set in. We cleaned up some of those mistakes, made some adjustments, and our offense continued to roll. Our defense also really stepped up big in the third quarter. We shut them down a little bit."
The Titans took a 17-14 lead early in the second quarter on John Rosengarten's 38-yard field goal, but Celina regained the lead with three minutes left in the first half on Schwieterman's 20-yard scoring pass to Cooper Jones.
In the third quarter. Schwieterman had a 33-yard scoring run with 8:47 left. Seven minutes later, Kyle Zizelman punched it in from 14 yards out to raise Celina's lead to 35-17. Schwieterman closed out the Bulldog scoring with a 15-yard run with 4:54 left in the game. The Titans added a late touchdown, but the Bulldogs closed the door.
Schwieterman rushed for 224 yards on just 18 carries and the two scores and also 15-of-18 passing for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Zizelman rushed for 77 yards and two scores.
O-G quarterback Jeremy Leopold was 11-of-21 for 133 yards passing and added 82 rushing yards and two scores.
Celina travels to Defiance next Friday.
