Jack Slife
Jack W. Slife age 77 of St. Marys, died on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 4:07 P.M. at his residence.
He was born on August 13, 1941, the son of the late Arthur L. and Edna E. (Scheer) Slife. On August 15, 1973, he married Laura Miller, and she survives in St. Marys.
Also surviving are his children: Jeff Slife of Sidney, Julie (Ray) Biglow, Chad (Amy) Slife, Jennifer (Joe Steman) Stephens, and Wes Slife all of St. Marys, his fourteen grandchildren: Peggy, Lindsey, Steph, Brad, Kalie, Ashley, Ryan, Trenton, Reagan, Aaron, Trey, Brett, Sam, and Domeanic, his nineteen great-grandchildren: Cambri, Ryker, Braxton, Kinley, Dawson, Anthony, Aiden, Shayleigh, Spencer, Lelend, Jaylynn, Adalyn, Mia, Rhett, Kimmie, Jaden, Austin, Zander, Jayce, and his brothers Thomas (Elaine) Slife of St. Marys, and Robert (Joanne) Slife of Tennessee.
Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughters Kelly Slife and Kimberly Chaney, and two grandsons Jacob and Duston.
Jack was a member of Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen. He was a member of the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, and playing cards, and watching crime shows on television.
He was a tool & die maker his whole life, and he was the founder and President of Auglaize Erie Machine & Tool, Inc. in New Bremen, and later the founder and President of Century Machine & Tool in Minster, until his retirement in 2003.
Jack's family meant everything to him. He had no greater joy in life than spending time with each and every one of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed the holidays when all of the family would be together. Along with his love and devotion to his family, Jack will be remembered for his sense of humor, and his hard work ethic.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen with Pastor Josh Kalichman officiating. Interment will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and again on Thursday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
