Mary Lou Riesen
Mary Lou Riesen, age 90, of Celina, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born on November 23, 1927 to Leo H. and Helen (Bechdolt) Mougey of Wapakoneta.
Mary Lou is survived by her children: Kay Piper, Dayton; Lee (Jane) Riesen of Lebanon; and Craig (Pam) Riesen of Celina; six grandchildren - Jeff Piper, Dayton; Julie (Alan) Maines, Lebanon; Lucy (Nick) Bachman, Cincinnati; Ben (Nichole) Riesen, Celina; Jessica Harris, Palm Beach, Florida; Dak Helentjaris (Randi Jo), Austin, Texas; 12 great grandchildren; her sister, Jean Hormann of Wapakoneta; her nieces Amy (Steve) Jameson, Cincinnati and Carrie Paul, Wapakoneta; along with many great-nieces and nephews. Her brother, Jim Mougey; her brother-in-law, Richard Hormann; and her companion, Jim Hoess, preceded her in death.
Mary Lou was a 1945 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta and moved to Celina in 1947. She was a secretary at Huffy Corporation for over 25 years and a longstanding member of the Auglaize-Mercer County YMCA, where she participated in weekly water aerobics classes until mid-August of this year.
Mary Lou was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, known to lead the family in script Ohio during halftime of the OSU-Michigan game. She enjoyed living on Grand Lake, tending to her flowers, and traveling. Family and friends will forever remember her sense of humor, contagious smile, devotion to family and her gift of conversation.
Mary Lou donated her body to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 7th at Romer's Catering, U.S. 127, Celina from 1:00 P.M to 3:30 P.M. with a memorial service beginning at 3:30 P.M.
Donations may be made to the Auglaize County YMCA, Mercer County Council on Aging or Hospice of Dayton.
