* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Lester Poeppelman
Lester L. Poeppelman, age 94, of Minster, died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Heritage Manor Minster.
He was born February 29, 1924 in McClean Township to the late Bernard & Alice (Gariety) Poeppelman. On April 30, 1949 he married Eileen (Bornhorst) in St. Joseph Church, Eygpt, Ohio and she survives in Minster.
He is also survived by his children, Barbara & Steve Grimm, Patricia & Dennis McGowan, Nicholas Poeppelman, Thomas Poeppelman, and James Poeppelman & Kendra Sommer all of Minster; grandchildren, Michael & David McGowan, Dylan, Jacob, Noah & Colleen Poeppelman and Jessica & Jay Bigalke; great-grandchildren, Gavin & Levi Bigalke; siblings Twin Sister Esther Hoelscher of Newport, and Edna Wise of Minster; step sister Jenny Voisard of Russia; and in-laws, Jerry & Charlene Bornhorst of Kerryville, TX.
He is also preceded in death by siblings, Bernadine & Tom Froning, Ruth & Albert Hoelscher, Conrad Hoelscher, Alvin & Martha Poeppelman, and Clifford Wise; step siblings, Dorothy & Urban Gaier, Margaret & Aloys Hoelscher, Hilda & Clarence Siegel, and Carl Voisard; stepmother, Genevieve Poeppelman; and parents-in-law Paul & Margaret Bornhorst, brothers-in-law & sister-in-law: Maurice & Viola Bornhorst, Charles & Josephine Bornhorst, Anna & Lavern Gross.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Ft. Loramie American Legion, Minster V.F.W. In World War II Lester served in China, Burma, India Theatre. After returning from the service he was employed at Busse & Sons Meat Market. From 1950 to 1960 he had the first convenience store in Ft. Loramie, South Park Grocery. He then worked for Ohio Division of Parks for 5 years, before becoming a district representative for the Dayton Daily News covering Mercer, Auglaize, Shelby & Logan Counties until his retirement.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Thursday, November 1, 2018 at St. Augustine Church with Fr. Frankline Rayappa officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday and 9 to 9:30 am Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Memorials may be made to Minster Fire Dept. & Rescue Squad or Masses.
