Alvin Alig
Alvin Gerhard Alig, age 80, of Saint Henry, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
He was born April 28, 1938, to Henry & Philomena (Homan) Alig, in Saint Anthony, Ohio. He married Joyce L. Brumm, November 22, 1962.
They have three daughters: Lorna (Rod) Teeter, Brenda Spurlin (Jeff Stephens), and Colleen (Brian) Linhart. Their seven grandsons are Jarrod Teeter, Ross Teeter, Tommy Spurlin, Tanner Spurlin, Camden Stephens, Lachlan Linhart, and Landon Linhart. Alvin's siblings are Norman Alig (Hilda); Kenneth Alig (Beatrice); Dale Alig (Janet), and Lucy Ann Nieport (Steve).
Alvin began his employment at Coldwater Machine Company August 1, 1962, as a Process Engineer and Manager. He retired in 2000.
Alvin & Joyce spent many happy years traveling together. Alvin valued his nieces and nephews and spending time in his shop and at the farm with his nephews. Most of all, he loved his grandsons and spending time with them, with tractors and fishing at the farm pond.
Alvin was a Member of the Fort Recovery Gun Club. He owned Alig Gun Shop, in addition to repairing old guns. Alvin also belonged to the Ohio Progressive Sportsman, Old Fashioned Farmers Association, and several Antique Tractor Organizations. He collected and restored antique tractors. He appreciated spending time with his many friends, and attending tractor shows and sales with them.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 25, 2019, at 10:00 am, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Saint Henry, Ohio. Burial will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Thursday, January 24, and 9:00-9:30 am on Friday, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Saint Henry.
