Herbert Homan
Herbert A. "Herb" Homan, age 72, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away January 24, 2019 at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, OH.
He was born March 5, 1946, in Celina, to the late Anthony and Ida (Schulte) Homan. On September 20, 1969, he married Charlene "Toots" (Albers) Homan, who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Todd (Michele) Homan of Fort Recovery, Jeff (Tara) Homan of Coldwater, Deb (Doug) Ruhenkamp of Maria Stein, Amy (Curt) Dues of Fort Recovery, and Ken (Pam) Homan of Minster; 19 grandchildren; his siblings, Janet (Jim) McEldowney of Versailles, Eileen (Art) Dapore of Russia, Mary Keller of Fort Recovery, Carolyn (Dave) Kreischer of Sidney, Doris (Phil) Sheffer of Fort Recovery; a sister-in-law, Delores Homan of Coldwater; a brother-in-law, Jim (Patti) Boehmer of Centerville, OH; and in-laws, Bob Albers of North Star, Sr. Ann Cecile Albers of Cincinnati, OH, Mary Schmitz of Fort Recovery, Jim (Judy) Albers of Wapakoneta, and Mary Barlage of Wapakoneta; and a special relative, Martha (Alvin) Wendel of Fort Recovery.
Preceding him in death are siblings, Gerald "Jake" Homan and Mildred Boehmer; brothers-in-law, Wally Thien and Joe Keller; and in-laws, Betty (Rich) Schulze, Rita (Al) Barlage, Barb Albers, JoAnn Albers, and Fred Schmitz.
Herb was a truck driver for Wendel Poultry, Fort Recovery for 50 years and was a life time farmer of the family farm. He served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, Ohio and its Men's Society.
Herb loved playing cards and watching sports. He followed the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns, however, watching his grandkids sporting events was his favorite thing to do.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, January 28, 2019 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, with Fr. Ned Brown as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
Calling is 1:00 pm-7:00 pm Sunday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Monday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion, Fort Recovery.
