Denise Harris
Denise Lynn (Williamson) Harris, 51, Nurse Practitioner, St. Marys, Ohio, passed away at home after a two-year battle with cancer on January 28, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Kokomo, Indiana and is survived by her parents, Ron Williamson (Port Charlotte, FL), and Susan Koenig (Indianapolis, IN). She married her husband Shawn Harris, on April 26, 1986, in Heflin, Alabama. Denise & Shawn were married for 32 wonderful years before her passing. She is also the mother of two sons, Jackson and Grant Harris; who survive in St. Marys.
Denise Harris is also survived by a sister Tracy Scherer (Indianapolis, IN), nieces Megan Disney (Danville, IN), Lucy Walsh (Boulder, CO), Madeline Walsh (NY, NY), nephews Jacob Scherer (Indianapolis, IN), Lincoln Harris (San Francisco, CA), Riley Harris (Brunswick, ME), sisters-in-law Heidi Harris (Indianapolis, IN), Dr. Kelda (Larry) Walsh (Indianapolis, IN), brother-in-law Dr. Chris (Sandy) Harris (Monmouth Junction, NJ), mother-in-Law Karen Harris (Indianapolis, IN), father-in-law Dr. Robert Harris (Overland Park, KS), grandmother Edith Bell Williamson (Kokomo, IN), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Denise was a graduate of Northwest High School (Indianapolis), and held a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's Degrees in Nursing, from Ohio University, and was employed by Lima Memorial Hospital System as a nurse practitioner.
Denise was an accomplished nurse, mother, and friend. All that knew her, knew she was a friend for life. Denise loved traveling the world, visiting with friends, spending time with her family, gardening, and loving her children. Denise loved taking care of patients as a nurse, and spending time with her fellow nurses and medical specialists.
Above everything in her wonderful life, Denise loved her two sons with all her heart, and was so proud of watching her sons grow, excel, be happy, and become wonderful young men. She could see her influence in her sons with their drive, ambition, and will to take on challenges, and it made her very happy.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm, Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys, with the funeral service immediately following at 5:00 pm with Rev. Bob Sweeney officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The James Fund For Life, The James Cancer Center, Ohio State University, and/or the St. Marys Tailgate for Cancer.
