Laura A. Wendel
Laura A. Wendel, age 91, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away on March 3, 2019 at Otterbein Retirement Living Community, St. Marys. She was born April 30, 1927, in Coldwater, to the late William and Ida (Borgerding) Timmerman. On June 22, 1946, she married Harold Wendel, who died February 4, 1986.
Surviving are her children, Dale Wendel of Fort Recovery, Lillian (Larry) Heitkamp of Saint Marys and Terry (Mildred "Meg") Wendel of Bethpage, TN; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Timmerman of Fort Recovery.
Preceding her in death is a daughter-in-law, Ruth Wendel; brothers, John (Rosemary and Grace) Timmerman, Leroy Timmerman, Roscoe Timmerman and Eugene Timmerman; and a sister, Mary Lou (Gordon) Hughes.
She attended Salem Heights for two years and later became a housekeeper for Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. Laura also served as a volunteer for the hospital for many years.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter and its choir. Laura was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella Circle 810, Fort Recovery and the catholic widow group, NAIM of the North. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, sewing, traveling and spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, March 7, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter, with Fr. Matthew Feist as celebrant. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am-9:45 am Thursday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio. A Daughter of Isabella prayer service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
